Edward Maurer, 89, of Salisbury Township, died Aug. 13, 2017, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Nina M. (Comfort) Maurer. They were married for 31 years last December. Born in Ober-Schonborn, Ukraine, he was the son of the late John and Mary Ekenberger Maurer.

He was a self-employed brick and stone mason for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Edwalde Cook and Gale Rezende and her companion Elvis Fonseca, both of Bethlehem; son, Edward T., of Catasauqua; step-daughters, Nanette, wife of Robert Chappelear, of Devon and Christine, wife of Scott Dash, of Boalsburg; sisters, Veronica, of Bethlehem and Gretel, of Germany; brother, Anton, of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Aug. 18 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. Call noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
