Donald Carl Nelson

Donald Carl Nelson, 95, died peacefully on July 28, 2017.

He was one of the kindest souls one would have had the privilege to meet.

Mechanically inclined, he served in the Army Air Corps earning the rank of corporal as an aerial engineer assisting in delivering new planes to both fronts during World War II.

Born in Detroit Mich., and raised by his mother during the Depression, he was a hard worker who both owned a business earlier in life, and worked for various companies throughout his career, ending as a sales manager for Swift Microscopes.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Edith Marie (Godfrey).

His survivors include a sister Ada Drinkwater, wife of the late Everett, of Houston, Ark., son Gary E. and wife Gail of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter Mari-Cay Hartman and husband Mike of Allentown; grandsons Blake, wife Kim and children Amber, Amanda, Allie, Anna, Alaina, Autumn, Arrow, Abel and Asher of Rock Spring, Ga., and Brady, wife Jennifer, and twins Olivia and Abigail of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four nephews; two nieces; one great-nephew; three great-nieces; and one great-great-niece.

Friends and family may call 10:30-11 a.m. Oct 14 at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown,

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct 14 at the church.

Arrangements were made by Robert C. Weir Funeral Home, Allentown.
