William Theel

William Theel, 85, died suddenly July 30, 2017, at his home in Macungie. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Mick) Theel. They were married for 58 years. Born in Passaic, N.J.,he was the son of the late Frank William Theel and Rose Mary (Dunst) Theel. He lived in Pequannock, N.J., until his family moved to Livingston, N.J.

He was a 1950 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School. As a young man he was crazy about anything with a motor prompting him to attend Newark College of Engineering for a time before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed recalling his days serving with the 507 Corps of Army Engineers in Germany, where he attained the rank of PFC.

He won multiple awards working as a field engineer for IBM for 32 years until retiring.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a Little League coach and an Indian Guide leader. After retiring in 1986, he and his wife moved to Reeders, and then to the Wild Cherry Knoll Community in Macungie. He enjoyed spending time with his family attending church and school activities and vacationing at the shore. He enjoyed going out to breakfast and lunch and spending time in the Tuesday walking and LMT Senior Citizen Clubs. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed feeding the birds and animals.

He is survived by a son, William and his wife Mary Ellen (Argentieri); daughters, Cindy and her husband Gerald Williams and Karen and her husband Lee French; twin brother, Frank; grandchildren, Michael William and Kevin Shawn Williams. He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude.
