Rose Marie “Mimi” Hall
Rose Marie “Mimi” Hall, 83, of Salisbury Township, died July 29, 2017, in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of Tom Hall. They were married for 15 years. Born in Catasauqua, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Hamilla) Ferenchak.
She graduated in 1952 from Central Catholic High School, Allentown. She earned bachelor’s degrees in anthropology, psychology and geology, as well as a master’s degree in journalism, which she applied as the managing editor of the Menninger Perspective. Her life study was nursing, which began at St. Agnes in Philadelphia and continued for years, culminating in service to others in medical and psychological care. She spent many years in Topeka, Kan. and was proud of her work with the Menninger Foundation, Topeka State Hospital and Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was a prolific writer and widely published.
She held an international scuba diver’s license and was fond of spelunking. She traveled the world through Mexico, Africa, Europe, China and other parts of the world.
A consummate hostess, for 25 years she hosted a highly anticipated Christmas party. She found joy in the company of cats, as well as deer spotting, bird-watching and caring for the woodland animals around her home.
She and her husband attended both St. Pau’s R.C. Church, Allentown and St. Ursula Catholic Church, Fountain Hill.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Lynda and her husband Terrance Johnson, of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Amy Hensler, of Brazil, Ind.; son, Kyle Ferlemann and his wife Pamela, of Topeka, Kan.; stepdaughter, Catherine and her husband Brian Keys, of Macungie; stepsons, Mark Hall, of Egypt and Bill Hall and his wife Sabina, of Allentown; six grandchildren, Emily Ferlemann, Nicholas and Josie Hensler and Madison, Parker and Riley Johnson; two step-grandchildren, Abby Hall and Olivia Keys. She was predeceased by siblings, George, Joseph, Anna, John, Cecilia, Agnes and Olga.
In lieu of flowers, she would have preferred that you carry a few dollar bills in your pocket and drop them where a child could find them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 4 at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill, where a visitation will be held 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements were made by the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown.
