Gloria S. Melcher, 89, of Wescosville, died July 29, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Health Network. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Melcher. Born in Gilbertsville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mandilla (Romig) Sterner.

She was a 1946 graduate of Allentown High School and was a long time employee of Towles & Co., Inc.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ where she was an active crafter in its bazaars and was a member of the former Salem United Church of Christ.

She volunteered at the Phoebe Home and local soup kitchen and enjoyed spending time in two card clubs.

She is survived by a son, Lt. Gen. David F. and his wife, Marla (Smith), of Oakton, Va.; daughter, Patrice M. Reiche, of Collegeville; grandchildren, Meredith Campbell, of Oakton, Va., Katherine Prince, of Denver, Colo., Thomas Reiche, of Collegeville, Alivia Reiche, of Philadelphia; great-grandchildren, Avery and David Campbell. She was predeceased by son-in-law, Jeffrey R. Reiche; brother, John Sterner; sisters, Gay Frank and Margaret Albeck.
