Francis Lewis Caputo, 82, of Emmaus, died July 27, 2017, after a brief stay at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Gladys Mae Caputo. They were married for 60 years. He was the son of the late Ralph and Teresa Caputo.
He worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, was a member of the Delaware National Guard and was involved with local politics and various organizations right up until his passing.
He was an avid fan of all sports, and spent much of his life coaching children, teenagers and adults in the fundamentals of baseball, basketball, football and softball.
He will be remembered by many for his frank, tough-love leadership style, and for the various home improvement projects that were always underway.
He is survived by his wife; son, Michael (Nora); daughter, Karen (Edward) Cartwright; granddaughter, Jennifer; nieces, JC Hamilton (Rick Wood) and Erica (David) Coleman and their children, Sydney and Nicholas. He was predeceased by siblings, Regina, Gloria and Bart.

A Celebration of Life will be held 4 p.m. Aug. 6, at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A calling hour will be held 3 p.m. until time of service Aug. 6 in the funeral home. There will be another Celebration of Life held in Delaware at a later date.
