A white male wearing a mask robbed Provident Bank, 4285 Tilghman St., South Whitehall Township, just before noon July 29.
South Whitehall Township Police Detective Timothy Shoudt said in a news release officers responded to the bank for a holdup alarm.
Shoudt said the man entered the bank with his hand covering his face and an object in his hand.
The man, standing approximately 6 feet tall with a slender build, removed his hand and revealed he was wearing a light-color mask or cloth covering his lower face and nose.
He also was wearing a dark-color, zip-up jacket with the hood pulled over his head, bluejeans with a logo patch on the right rear pocket and work boots.
Shoudt said the man took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing west, then north through a wooded area.
Allentown Police Department’s K-9 tracked him through the wooded area, Shoudt said.
The track ended in the Cedar Creek Farms housing development.
Shoudt noted there were reports of a suspicious man running from the wooded area near the development.
An image of the man, with medium length, light-colored facial hair, and wearing blue jeans, work boots and carrying a backpack, was captured as he ran eastbound through the development Shoudt said.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Shoudt at 610-398-0337.
