Coroner seeks family of woman killed in Upper Macungie motorcycle crash

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim is seeking the next of kin of Yvonne Suzette Rohrbach, a 51-year-old Hamburg, Berks County woman killed after she was thrown from the 1992 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on which she was a passenger around 11:30 p.m. on July 30 at the intersection of Route 222, North, at Mill Creek Road, Upper Macungie.

Grim said the woman was pronounced dead at 12:23 a.m. July 31 by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Gabrielle Riley.

Grim told The Press on Aug. 1 her cause of death was multiple blunt injuries. He ruled her death an accident.

The coroner asks anyone with information on Rohrbach’s family to contact his office at 610-782-3426.

Upper Macungie police say Shawn Balthaser, 48, also from Hamburg, was operating the motorcycle.

Police say for unknown reasons the motorcycle departed the travel lane to the right and went over two raised islands before striking a sign.

During this time, the woman was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries, police say.

The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Both the man and woman were wearing helmets, police say.

This crash remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact Upper Macungie Township police at 484-661-5911.
