Miriam Parker, Walp’s waitress

Miriam Parker, 92, of Bethlehem, died July 25, 2017, at home. Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Rebecca (Nothstein) and Calvin Haas. She was the wife of the late John C. Parker for 58 years.

She was a waitress at Walps restaurant, Allentown. She later worked at Coopersburg Diner. She ran a gift shop business out of her home and held in-home parties throughout the Lehigh Valley. She was co-owner of Parker’s Gifts.

She volunteered for Lehigh Christian Academy and Operation Christmas Child through Nelson Randolph’s Ministry.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Jacqueline Parker and her husband Dr. Barry Silver and Cynthia and her husband Jay Musselman; a brother, Hilbert and his wife Fran Haas; a sister, Bette Mae Forsythe; four grandchildren, Jason and his wife Meggan, Jill and her husband Benjamin, Lindsay and Dan; and four great-grandchildren, Parker, Corban, Tess and Lucy.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Madeline Follweiler, Mildred Garvin and Ruth Rabenold; and a brother, Robert Haas.
