Shihan Edward H. Martin, died July 13, 2017, in his beloved farm in Macungie. He was the husband of Martha K. Martin.
He was a graduate of Emmaus High School and Moravian College.
He served in the Air Force as a B-47 bomber pilot in Strategic Air Command. He flew for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh. The majority of his career was spent flying for TWA.
He studied the Japanese martial art Ninjitsu and he became an internationally known and acclaimed teacher, mentor and friend to many all over the world.
He served locally on the Upper Milford Zoning Board for over 15 years.
He was an accomplished man of deep convictions, passionate causes and incredible will.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Cheree Hopkins, Dolly Martin and Meredith Strasser; sons-in-law, Charles, Terry and Brendan; brothers, Robert, James and Ben; sister, Betty Stauffer as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, Augustus and Samuel.
Contributions may be made to the funeral home in lieu of flowers.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Aug. 13 in the Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Speakers are invited to make brief remarks after visitation hours.
