Northampton’s Michael Kistler returned from Fargo, N.D. with double All-American status at the Cadet Freestyle and Greco Tournament’s.
Kistler was one of several wrestlers from District 11 to make the trek out west to participate in one of the summer’s biggest wrestling tournaments in the country.
Kistler took fourth in freestyle at 138-pounds in the event, advancing to the quarterfinals before losing and working his way back through the consolation bracket.
He also finished in fifth place in Greco, giving him a productive run during the tournament.
Pennsylvania brought a deep team to the tournament and finished third in the team standings with 49 points, finishing behind runner-up Ohio (51 points) and runaway champion Illinois (84 points).
Nazareth’s Sammy Sasso finished fifth in the 145-pound Junior Freestyle tournament, while Bethlehem Catholic’s Luca Frinzi took sixth in Cadet Freestyle at 145 pounds.
Wilson’s Marckis Branford was seventh at 120-pounds in cadet action, while Pottsville’s Nick Onea rounded out the medal winners from the area with a seventh place finish at 113-pounds in Junior Freestyle.
