Louis L. Szoke, 71, of Walnutport, died July 19, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Born in Lehigh Township, he was a son of the late Paul and Eva (Polok) Szoke. He was the husband of the late Joyce M. (Hansler) Szoke.
He was a 1950 graduate of Palmerton HS. He was a corporal (T) in the U.S. Army during the Korean era.
He worked in the coke oven division of the former Bethlehem Steel for 36 years until he retired in 1985.
He was a member of St. Nicholas R.C. Church, Berlinsville.
He was a member of the American Legion, Opplinger-Howard Post 899, Lehigh Township. He coached Lehigh Township baseball for several years.
He is survived by two daughters, Bernadette M. and her husband George Farkas and Antoinette M. and her husband Wallace Grube, all of Lehigh Township; four sons, Randal L. and his wife Kim of Washington Township; Thomas L. and his wife Sherry and Lawrence L. and his wife Lisa, all of Lehigh Township; and Gerald A. Smith of Hanover Township; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James P. and his wife Shirley of Lehigh Township and Ernest G. and his wife Cleta of Doylestown; nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Lisa Hahn and Suzette Olewine; and a granddaughter, Tracy L. Szoke.
