SkillsUSA honored dozens of local students at its 31st annual Elmer Gates Awards breakfast at the Best Western Conference Center recently.

SkillsUSA Council founder Gates established a program to recognize students at local career and technical schools for exemplifying qualities desirable as both a student and prospective employee.

The Elmer Gates Enterprise Awards are presented to students based on their scholastic achievement, school and community involvement, entrepreneurial spirit and involvement in SkillsUSA.

Each winner received a plaque and a $100 gift card from the Gates family.
