John Joseph O’Brien, 52, of Lower Macungie Township, died July 12, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus. Born in London, England, he was the son of Margaret E. (Sargent) O’Brien with whom he resided and the late William J. O’Brien.

He was a 1983 graduate of Emmaus High School, and served his country in the United States Army.

He was employed by Ryder Truck, Alburtis.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown.

He is survived by his mother; sisters, Catherine A., of Alburtis, Margaret E., of North Wales; brother, Stephen M. and his wife Emily, of Denver, Colo.; a niece; a nephew; aunts; uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Lehigh Valley Unit, 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem, 18017.

Funeral services will be private, no calling hours. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
