Edward J. Besz, 85, formerly of Emmaus, died July 5, 2017, in Salisbury Township after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Cleo E. (Englert) Besz. They were married for 58 years on Dec. 27, 2016. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Stephen S. and Anna (Polly) Besz.
He was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church.
He was a Naval veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a machinist at the former Western Electric in Allentown for 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Emmaus Lodge #792 F & AM. He was a life member of the Emmaus VFW and Emmaus Fire Company #1 where he also served as a firefighter. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the IBEW Local 1522.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and Philadelphia sports teams but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Susan B. and her husband Christopher Kulp, of Salisbury Township.; son, Keith E. and his wife Donna, of Salisbury Township; grandchildren, Ryan Kulp and Nicole and Justin; sister, Julia Lisowski. He was predeceased by brothers, Stephen, Paul, John, Julius, Joseph and Louis.
Memorial donations may be made to the church.
