Students win awards for conservation district poster contest

The Lehigh County Conservation District recently sponsored a poster contest, “Healthy Soils are Full of Life” for students in the Lehigh Valley.

The award ceremony took place at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Katie Velekie, Lehigh Valley Health Network Sustainability coordinator, Jolie Chylack, Lehigh County Conservation District Environmental Education and Outreach coordinator, Bill Erdman, Lehigh County Conservation District Board chairman, and Bill McFadden, Lehigh County Conservation District manager, took part in the presentations.

Winners included: Emily Peralta, Parkland senior, first place; Baltazar Belman, Parkland senior, honorable mention; J.T. Funk, Parkland senior, second place; Kiran Kadewari, Springhouse seventh grader, first place; Jeishla Crespo, Parkland senior, honorable mention; Katelyn Batista, Arts Academy Charter Middle School seventh grader, honorable mention; Khadijeh Namous, Parkland senior, third place; Morgan Newbury, Arts Academy Charter Middle School seventh grader, honorable mention; Andrew Lochiatto, Springhouse seventh grader, honorable mention; Rysha Jimenez, seventh grader at Springhouse, honorable mention, Lauren Micheletti, seventh grader at Springhouse, honorable mention, Ethan Kramer, Springhouse seventh grader, honorable mention; Nicholas Golovanov, Springhouse seventh grader, third place; and Shaiyan Feisal, Springhouse seventh grader, second place.
