Mengel starts 48 games at Mansfield University

Some Northwestern Lehigh High School graduates contributed to college athletic teams in the past spring season.

Brady Mengel, a freshman at Mansfield University, started in 48 of the baseball team’s 49 games this past spring. He batted .206 for the Mounties, scoring 16 runs and knocking in 13 more. Playing second base, Mengel recorded a .967 fielding percentage and helped turn 25 double plays.

Sophomore catcher Sunny Greenberg appeared and started in 30 games for the DeSales softball team this past spring. She recorded seven RBIs and a .979 fielding percentage for the Bulldogs.

Freshman Lydia Danner played a key role in the Lehigh Carbon Community College softball team qualifying for the Region XIX Tournament for the first time ever. She was named to the EPIC All-Conference Team and All-Region XIX First Team. Heading into the tournament, Danner led the team by batting .507 and recorded 30 stolen bases. She also struck out 62 batters in 58 innings in the pitcher’s circle, posting a 3.14 ERA.
