Gordon W.J. Oplinger Jr., 83, formerly of Emmaus, died June 21, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Dolores (Fritz) Oplinger. They were married for 60 years. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Minerva and Gordon W.J. Oplinger Sr.
He attended Albright College. He worked in brokerage sales for Stiffel and Company.
He was a member of St. Matthew’s EC Church, Emmaus.
He served on and as past president of Emmaus Borough Council, was a member and past president of the Emmaus Optimist Club and was an EYA basketball coach for many years.
He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Stephen L. and his wife Missy, Todd L. and his wife Debbie and Scott L. and his wife Jaime; daughter, Sandra L. and her husband Andy Caverly; brother, Mark; sister, Wanda Ramsberger; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
