Stephen A. Lizak

Stephen A. Lizak, 93, of Northampton, died June 17, 2017, at home. He was the husband of Katherine (Hewko) Lizak for 66 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Albert and Katrina (Milander) Lizak.

He was a graduate of Coyne Technical School, Chicago, and of International Correspondence School with a degree in industrial electrical engineering.

He was in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Corps during World War II. He assisted in the Normandy Invasion and in building the wooden transport bridge across the Rhine River. He survived many bombing raids.

He was an electrical engineer for Dragon Cement Company for many years.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Walnutport.

He was a life member of both the Lippawanzo, Keystone and Steel City rod and gun clubs; First Ward Fire Company; Egypt VFW Post 7293; Disabled American Veterans; Catholic War Veterans Post; and American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Anna Bucha and Monica and her husband Frank Paukovits; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Charles; a brother, John; and three sisters, Catherine Neupauer, Mary Makovsky and Bernadine Stangl.
