Coplay Cemetery Association has called for a meeting 10:30 a.m. July 2 in the social hall of St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Third Street. A spokesperson said the meeting is open to plot holders and the public.
The meeting, it was said, will discuss the cemetery association “going forward.”
The cemetery is located on Oak Street.

With the borough closed for the Fourth of July holiday, residents are reminded the pickup of refuse by sanitation personnel will be a day later than usual.

Every year as Independence Day is celebrated, many ask if the borough fireworks program, one of the most spectacular pyrotechnic displays in the region, is returning. Held for over a decade in the borough and enjoyed by hundreds of families, the event was privately funded via donations. Over the years, however, donations began lacking.
Although there are no celebrations or programs on tap in the borough for the Fourth of July, American flags, have been placed on utility poles on Second and Chestnut streets and will remain through the Labor Day holiday.

Work on curbing and sidewalk installation is on the front burner as the repaving job on Hokendauqua Street, Sixth to Second streets, is the next phase before road construction happens. The street is a joint enterprise with Whitehall Township, with Hokendauqua on the south side of the boundary roadway.
