Abigail Rowan
Grade: Graduated senior
Family members: I live with my mom, Stacy Rowan, my dad, Dave Rowan, and my twin sister Emily.
Favorite subject: My favorite subject is biology because I like learning about how things work on a microscopic level.
Activities: I ran cross country for Freedom, dance at Art of Dance studios and participate in Young Life and FCA. In the spring I played Freedom lacrosse.
Next steps: I am planning on going to college and majoring in biology. Depending on where I go to school, I might double major or minor in kinesiology.
Career goals: Right now I intend on becoming an occupational or physical therapist, or a personal trainer, but I am also considering genetic counseling.
Heroes: Maggie Stiefvater is one of my heroes. She is an author who started writing books because her previous job was unfulfilling. I think that’s a valuable life choice that a lot of people would be scared to make.
Hobbies: In addition to dance, lacrosse and cross country, I also like to ski and snowboard in the winter, and I design and make my own clothes.
Volunteer/community work: I am involved in Freedom’s National Honor Society, so in the fall we worked on the Via Marathon that supports people with disabilities. Last fall and winter I also volunteered at the Sigal Museum in Easton.
Likes: I really love chocolate and scented candles, as well as hot sauce and dogs. I like the color yellow and I love my lacrosse, cross country and dance teammates.
Dislikes: I dislike scary movies, grape popsicles and big hills on long runs.
Greatest accomplishment (so far): I think my greatest accomplishment so far was becoming lacrosse captain my senior year. I have grown so much as an athlete and leader during my time on the team, and I can’t wait to lead my team to lots of wins.
Advice for peers: My advice would be to find a really great group of friends, family or supporters during your high school years. My time in high school has been so fun and fulfilling because I am surrounded by positive, successful and wonderful people.
