Whitehall library: MacArthur Road talk planned for tonight

Come to the library 6:30 p.m. tonight, June 22, for an event celebrating MacArthur Road’s ongoing 75th anniversary. Karen Gensey, historian and author of “Whitehall, Pennsylvania: The Golden Strip of the Lehigh Valley,” will discuss the history of the road and the surrounding area.

Stop by and sign up for our summer reading program, open to all ages. The theme is “Build a Better World.”

There will be storytimes and plenty of activities involving building, nature and art as attendees seek to make a better world. Join the group for science and animal programs, kids’ bingo, contests and prizes.

An “Everything Is Awesome with LEGOS!” session will be held 11 a.m.-noon June 22. During this program, for children, youth and teens, attendees will be building things with LEGOS as part of the “Build a Better World” theme for the summer reading program.

Donations of the LEGOS were made by McDonald’s, Bridge 2 Creative Learning Center and patron contributions.

Little hands can handle hulk-size puzzle pieces! Open to children 4 and older, a program to build giant floor puzzles is planned for 3 p.m. June 27 and 1:30 p.m. June 29.

Kids’ bingo will be held 6 p.m. June 28 in the reference area. Smarties candy will be used as markers for all our “smartie” kids! This bingo is for children from pre-K to grade 5.

At 6:30 p.m. June 27 and Aug. 1, the library will host a “Building Better Minds” event. Brains will be under construction! Come explore with Super Science & Amazing Art to find out how to build a better mind while having a blast.

This program is open to all ages - 0 to 99!
