Jean Esther Koch

Jean Esther (Ochs) Koch, formerly of Macungie, died June 13, 2017, at Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Curtis L. Koch. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1999. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Helen (Shafer) Ochs.

She was an active member of the UCC congregation of St. Peter’s Union Church, Macungie.

She graduated from Polk Township High School in Kresgeville and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. She loved to serve others in her nursing career and her active membership in many service organizations.

She was an active member and an officer of The Macungie Women’s Club, VFW Auxiliary, Christian Women’s Association, Red Hat Society and Lioness Club, where she received the Melvin Jones Award for her outstanding humanitarian services.

She is survived by children, Brenda Carbon, Anita Miller, Susan and her husband Paul Dowling and Curtis II and his wife Deborah; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Lamont Ochs; sister, Fay L. Kapec; aunt, Doris Byerley. She was predeceased by an infant son.

Contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Union Church, Macungie.
