Symia joins DA’s office

District Attorney Jim Martin has announced that Edriana R. Symia, Esquire, has joined the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office as the Assistant District Attorney.

She is a 2007 graduate of Lehigh University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She attended the University of Baltimore School of Law and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree in 2012. She has been admitted to the bar in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

She was previously an Assistant District Attorney in the Berks County District Attorney’s Office for three years.

Local woman a SJU Summer Scholar

Elise Brutschea, of Bethlehem, will be participating in the Summer Scholars independent research program of Saint Joseph’s University for 10 weeks from May through August.

The SJU chemistry major will work individually with faculty mentors on research projects to deepen her understanding of an aspect of her major course of study.

The program, which will include 22 disciplines and offers a competitive stipend for 87 students. Scholars have the opportunity to live on campus with subsidized housing.

Valley employers honored

The Lehigh Valley Employment Coalition recently recognized local employers who excelled in hiring persons with disabilities.

The event, in partnership with the Holiday Inn, Allentown, honored Affordable Pet Center Inc.; Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation, Allentown; Cinemark; Clothes Mentor; Deborah Deluca Housel and the team at WaWa, Bethlehem; Dorney Park; IMKO Workforce Solutions; Meals on Wheels, Bethlehem: Moravian Village of Bethlehem; Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Bethlehem and Allentown; Parkhurst Dining Services; Price Rite, Bethlehem; Red Robin, Lehigh Valley; Sodexo, Lehigh Valley Hospital and Manor Care, Bethlehem; The Knitter’s Edge and Willowbrook Farms.
