Northampton: Science program planned at library

Registration is underway for the Northampton Area Public Library’s summer learning programs and summer reading challenge. This year’s theme is “Build a Better World.”

A “Design It, Build It” science session will be held 10 a.m. June 21. Children ages 4-10 and their caregivers are invited to attend. No registration is required.

A program titled “Eyes of the Wild” is planned for 6 p.m. June 22. Families can meet rescued animals and hear about the beautiful creatures and habitats we share this world with. No registration is required.

New to the summer learning program this year is Storyoga, set for 11 a.m. Tuesdays starting June 27. The session includes stories, songs and playful yoga stretches for children ages 3-6 and their caregivers. No previous yoga practice is needed. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a beach towel or mat. Registration is required.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” the library is celebrating with Harry Potter trivia night 6:30 p.m. June 21. This event is for anyone 16 years and older. Registration is required. Teams will be limited to four individuals.

Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will hold a picnic noon June 21 at Municipal Park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue. Those planning to attend are reminded they must have a ticket and are encouraged to bring a dessert.

Friends of Northampton Area Public Library will be running a bus trip to the new Museum of the American Revolution, Philadelphia, July 28. The cost includes admission to the museum, transportation and the driver’s tip.

Deadline to pay for your seat is July 6.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 hosts a polka and button box event 7:30-10:30 p.m. every Friday at the Post home.
