BASD: Foundation grants due
The Foundation for the BASD is now accepting BASD teachers’ applications through 4 p.m. Sept.6 for service-learning grants. Funding requests up to $1,000 are accepted.
Service-learning begins with classroom content and moves into the community through the planning and implementation of a service project.

LVA: Students participate in Quiz Bowl
The Lehigh Valley Academy quizbowl team competed in the high school Quizbowl national scholastic championship June 10 and 11 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, Chicago. Lehigh Valley Quizbowl team members Lucas Larkin and Alex Schmidt are coached by Charles Adami, Peter Schmidt and Leianne Whitley.
The team competed against more than 90 other high school teams from around the country and the world. Results were not available at publication time.
CharterArts: Venture Academy begins June 27
The Adult Enrichment Workshop Series at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts will host the third round of the Venture Academy series this summer, beginning June 27. Venture Academy III- Religion & Art will feature explorations by Norman Girardot, Professor Emeritus of comparative religion, Lehigh University and Emma Ackerman, general manager of Touchstone Theatre.
This series of multi-media explorations from the Painted Caves of Prehistory to the Digital Caves of the 21st Century will feature a live session on Tuesday evenings and a guided film session on Thursday evenings.

Hanover ES: PTA hosts summer ‘VeggieSales’
Hanover PTA is holding a “VeggieSales” fundraising event in June, July, August, September and October. A different bag of pre-selected vegetables will be available each month.
