Barry Lee Accornero, 66, died May 22, 2017, at home in Huntington Beach, Calif., after a three- year battle with cancer. Born Jan. 23, 1951, in Bethlehem, he was a son of Italo and Margaret (Mittman) Accornero. He was the husband of Joanne Carle-Accornero for 26 years.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree from Norwich University. He attended culinary school,
He was selected by the U.S.A. Swimming organization to compete in the 1972 Olympic trials.
He was a business manager for Towson State University and then worked in the computer field for 30 years. On behalf of the company for which he worked, he opened branches in San Francisco, Orange County and San Diego. He was a sales and recruiting manager for Deloitte and Touche.He founded a computer company.
He volunteered at his church to cook for the homeless in Long Beach, Calif.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Sandra Rogers; and two nieces, Amy Rogers of Bethlehem and Sheri Waldhausen and her children Cole, Neil and Henry Waldhausen of Annville.
