David J. Hein has beaten Marc Posegay in the casting of lots held at high noon June 2 at the Lehigh County Government Center, 17 S. 7th St., Allentown.
Hein and Posegay were tied for fourth place with 751 votes each following the counting of absentee ballots after the May 16 Municipal Primary Election for Parkland School Board director, according to information from the Lehigh County Voter Registration web page.
The winner was decided via a vase filled with 16 balls with the lowest number representing the winner of the last position on the Democratic ballot.
Deputy Chief Clerk Terri Harkins of Lehigh County Board of Elections officiated and handled the vase, which was shaken with 16 balls in it.
Hein received the number 1. Posegay received the number 16.
As of May 16, candidates on the Democratic ballot alongside Hein are Linda Perlman-McKenna with 1,296 votes; Marie Maritch with 1,039 votes and Robert M. Cohen with 1,008 votes.
Hein received the most unofficial votes on the Republican ballot (1,449 votes), according to the Lehigh County Voter Registration.
The other candidates on the Republican ballot are Perlman-McKenna with 1,242 votes; Cohen with 1,320 votes and Maritch with 1,119 votes. Cohen and Hein are current sitting board members.
