Coplay Parkway Pool opens this weekend, June 10 and 11, noon-7 p.m., with the official opening day June 13. In June, hours will be noon-7 p.m.; July, noon-8 p.m.; and August, noon-7 p.m.

The borough hall office at the Fourth Street municipal building is the only place to purchase a season pass. Hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Vehicle traffic on Chestnut Street has seen a sharp reduction with the closing of the Coplay-Northampton Bridge, which will be demolished and a new bridge erected. Traffic, however, has spiked on the Hokendauqua-North Catasauqua Bridge for drivers going to Northampton and the outlying townships.

The ride from the borough on Coplay Road to the Cementon-Northampton Bridge is bumpy, adding to drivers’ concerns.

Drivers also have been heard complaining of the bumpy road surface at the Second and Chestnut streets intersection in the borough - not for the drivers, but for the vehicles as well. The same has been said for the temporary road condition on Hokendauqua Street, where stormwater inlet upgrades are underway before road surfacing happens.

The borough will accept applications from persons interested in a full-time laborer’s position with the public works department. Individuals have to be 18 or older and have a state driver’s license.

The deadline for applying at the municipal building borough office is June 30.
