Peter John Gettings, 87, of Bethlehem, died May 18, 2017. Born in Lafayette, Ind., he was a son of the late Peter and Marian (Reitemeier) Gettings. He was the husband of the late Patricia Joan (Laffrey) Gettings.

He was a four-sport athlete and started as a guard on the 1946 regional champion basketball team at Jefferson HS, Lafayette. He was a 1951 graduate of Indiana University and attended Purdue University.

He was in sales and sold bindery systems to the newspaper, magazine and book publishing industries world - wide. He was a senior vice president of sales at Sheridan Systems when he retired in 1996.

He is survived by five children, Thomas and his wife Maureen of Lake Forest, Ill.: Elizabeth and her husband David Lynch of Houston,Texas; Peter and his wife Kirsten and Colleen, all of Chicago, Ill.; and Matthew of Bethlehem; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, William K. and his wife Beverly Gettings of Lafayette, Ind.
