Howard T. Rex, Jr., 80, of Emmaus, died May 24, 2017, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Dougherty) Rex. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary last August. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Howard T. Rex Sr. and Mattie S. (Jones) Rex and a stepson of Arline B. (Buckalew) Rex.

He was employed as a house painter and bookkeeper for his father’s business, Rex Decorating for 29 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. John’s U.C.C., Emmaus. He was a member of the former Salem U.C.C., Allentown, where he served as a deacon.

He was a member of Greenleaf Lodge #5561 F.&A.M. and Lehigh Consistory.

He is survived by his wife; brother, Dale H. and his wife Eva, of Allentown. He was predeceased by a stepsister, Susan J. Buckalew and Theresa J. Flexer who he helped raise with his wife.
