Juan B. Hernandez Jr., millwright

Juan “Juanito” B. Hernandez Jr., 64, of Bethlehem, died May 15, 2017. Born September 20, 1952 in Corozal, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Juan B. Hernandez and Ana (Lopez) Hernandez.

He was a 1970 graduate of Freedom HS.

He was a millwright at both the Bethlehem and Sparrows Point plants, and retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation after almost 30 years.

An outdoorsman, he hiked and bird watched, visited Hawk Mountain and attended Native American powwows.

He is survived by three daughters, Alicia and her husband Timothy Baird and Noemi “Amy” Hernandez and her husband Jason, both of Bethlehem; and Sara Hernandez of Jim Thorpe; six siblings, Luis and his wife Iris of Nazareth, Oscar and his wife Lynda Hernandez of South Carolina, Nanette Hernandez and her husband Juan of Jersey City, Emerita Gee and her husband Edward of Philadelphia, Anibal Hernandez of South Carolina and Juanita Hernandez of Puerto Rico; seven grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Francisco Hernandez.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o the funeral home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.
