James L. Roma, 87, of Allentown, died May 8, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Elizabeth C. (Bauer) Roma were married 64 years last June 27.

Born Jan. 12, 1930, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Kern) Roma.

He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 17 years and the Air Force Reserve for three years.

A member of Carpenter’s Lehigh Valley Union Local 600, he was employed at Duggan and Marcon Inc., Allentown and Roma Development Co., South Whitehall Township, before retiring.

He was a member of the Italian Club, Allentown, and the Fullerton and Cetronia fire companies.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Allentown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Lynette M. Hanzl and her husband, James, of Allentown; son James P. Roma and his wife, Cynthia, of Barto; brother Albert Roma and his wife, Louise, of Whitehall; grandchildren Melissa Purnell, Anthony Hanzl, Quinton and Wesley Roma; and great-grandson Jackson Purnell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. May 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 11th and Washington streets, Allentown.

The Rev. Msgr. Victor F. Finelli, J.C.L. will be celebrant.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9-10 a.m. Thursday in the church narthex.

Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville.
