Scrap car pile tears down wires in Neffs

Fire police from Neffs, Laurys Station, Schnecksville, Tri Clover and Friedens fire companies recently responded for traffic control along Route 873, in the area of Neffs.

A tractor trailer carrying scrap cars tore down utility lines forcing the road to be closed for several hours.

A crane from David J. Hohenshilt Welding transferred several scrap cars to another trailer and Crystal Springs Electric responded to remove the emergency vehicle signal light from the intersection of Route 873 and Park Avenue.

Neffs Fire Company provided lighting for work crews.

All emergency personnel were released about 10 p.m. after PennDOT finished setting up road closure signs.

The road was opened a couple of hours later after utility companies resolved the downed wire situation.
