New veterinary facility planned

A new veterinary facility, Hamilton Animal Care, will be constructed on a 1.34 acre lot at 4570 W. Tilghman St.

The site is located at the southeast corner of the Hausman Road and Tilghman Street intersection.

The plan includes a two-story building with 8,157 square feet for the veterinary office and 1,443 square feet for general retail use.

There will be parking for 46 vehicles with a driveway connection to the adjacent P.J. Whelihan’s Restaurant property. The facility will be served by public water and sanitary sewage.

The board granted approval at its April 5 meeting.

In other business, engineer Mark Bradbury, representing Dave Posocco on the Blue Barn Meadows project, raised the issue of a 2014 zoning requirement for alleys behind town houses.

He said Posocco obtained an 11-acre piece of land which he will use for townhouses.

However, Bradbury stated there will not be enough room for the alleys.

“We’re really constricted,” Bradbury said. “We’ll possibly request a waiver. This will be the last and final leg of this project.”

He added his thoughts on the alley issue, saying people lose their privacy with a street in front and an alley behind.

Often the alleys just become a place for stuff to accumulate, noted Bradbury.

“I don’t think alleys are a great idea,” he concluded.

Commissioners did not discuss the matter and did not need to take action on it at this time.

During the public comment period, resident Michael Molovinsky brought up the subject of Wehr’s Dam.

He said the Covered Bridge Park master plan needs to be changed as it calls for removal of the dam.

“Unless you do that, you’re not honoring the referendum,” Molovinsky said.

Voters authorized the township to borrow up to $588,000 for repair of the dam in the November 2016 referendum.

Board Vice President Glenn Block offered comments.

“We will comply with the referendum,” Block said. “We’ve budgeted monies to go forward with the fix up.”

He suggested the public works administrator interact with the state Department of Environmental Protection to set the record straight on the condition of the dam.
