Northampton: Railroad station opens May 21
Siegfried Railroad Station, the home of Northampton Area Historical Society, will begin its monthly open house May 21.
The station will be open 1-4 p.m. the third Sunday of each month through October.
The station, located on 21st Street, is a museum housing artifacts of Northampton and the surrounding area.
More restoration, funded by the Northampton County hotel tax, has been done at the station. The public is invited to see the work that was done.
There are permanent exhibits at the museum, but each year there are several special exhibits shown. This year, there will be a display of decorated eggs. Many were made by Harold P. Smith, historical society president.
The society will be highlighting the four wards of the borough over the next four years. This year, the first ward and its businesses and points of interest will be featured in another special exhibit. Anyone who has information or memorabilia about the first ward is asked to share it with the society by calling 610-851-0154 or 610-262-8198.
