Lloyd C. Ohl

Lloyd C. Ohl, 80, of Coopersburg, died April 28, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Ruth K. (Rothenberger) Ohl. Born in North Saucon Township, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Anna T. (Deutsch) Ohl.

He was a 1954 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Allentown and a graduate of the police academy. He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserve 1958 to 1964. He served as chief of police for the Lower Milford Township Police Department 1968 to 1998.

Over the years, he worked as a welder, bus and truck driver and maintenance man for several different places including St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport; Mack Trucks, Macungie; New Jersey Zinc Co., Friedensville and Boise-Cascade, Bethlehem.

He was also a self-employed farmer who sold firewood, did hauling and had rental properties.

He enjoyed hunting. His memberships included 4-H leader, Pa. Police Chief Association and Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.

He was the president of the Lower Milford Township Fire Company.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport.

He is survived by his son, Lloyd P. Ohl and his wife Elizabeth, of Coopersburg; daughter, Rebecca Hamm and her husband Scott, of Kutztown; grandchildren, Lloyd Anthony, Cascade Hamm, Trinity Hamm and Tallon Hamm; lady friend, Linda Weber, of Macungie and sisters, Anna Mae Barton, of Norwalk, Calif. and Mary Ann McFadden and her husband John, of Bethlehem.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew.

A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. May 5 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5050 St. Joseph’s Road, Coopersburg. A visitation will be held 6 to 8:30 p.m. May 4 in Naugle Funeral and Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown.

Contributions may be made to the church or to the Lower Milford Township Fire Company, 1601 Limport Pike, Limport, 18060.
