Catasauqua: Salem UCC plans May 6 flea market

Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., will be having a flea market 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 6. A fantastic basket raffle with great prizes will be featured.

There also will be a bake sale with lots of good food to eat in or take out.

The youth group at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Fourth and Pine streets, is hosting a taco and potato bar 4-7 p.m. May 6.

A build-your-own taco bar, including walking tacos, baked potatoes with all the fixings, a scrumptious homemade dessert bar and beverages, will be featured.

Catasauqua Food Bank and Trinity’s youth activities fund will benefit from the proceeds.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association will have summer hours May 7 and 21 - noon-5 p.m. - at the Biery House, 8 Race St. Parking is at the Deily Coal Yard at the Canal, 5 Union St.

Cameron Smith will conduct a presentation on the life of D. George Dery, titled “The King of Silk and Renaissance Man,” 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., to be followed by a discussion. On display will be all types of memorabilia regarding Dery and his life that Cameron has collected.

The exhibit will be on display by appointment in May.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 417 Howertown Road, will hold a gift card bingo 7 p.m. May 12. Doors open 5 p.m.

There will be 20 games, plus specials.

Refreshments, including smoked pulled pork sandwiches, will be available for purchase.

Tickets can be purchased at the church during office hours 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday or at the door the day of the event.
