BASD: Race for Adam May 13

The annual Race For Adam Liberty to Freedom fun run will be held May 13. The day will begin with a four mile run (register at 9 a.m. at LHS track) at 10 a.m. The two mile walk (register at 10 a.m. at FHS track) starts at 10:30 a.m. The kids’ fun run kicks off at 11:30 a.m. (register at 11 a.m. at FHS track).

Lehigh Valley: Freddy Awards May 25

The annual Freddy Awards honoring local high school theater musicals will be held at 7 p.m. on May 25 at the State Theatre, Easton. The event will be broadcast live by WFMZ 69 news.

The dress rehearsal is May 24, with tickets available to the public (runs from 4:30 to 10 p.m.).

Bethlehem Catholic: Devlin honored

In the 2017 Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest, which ran from Jan. 4 until March 1, middle and high school students nominated a teacher by writing essays, poems or thank-you letters that shared how their teacher had influenced their life and why they appreciated and admired their teacher.

Barnes & Noble Bethlehem honored local winner Regina Devlin of Bethlehem Catholic HS and acknowledged her achievement. Becahi principal John Petruzzelli said the educator’s “passion for art and art education are only surpassed by her love and care for her students.”

Ashlinn Sweeney, who nominated the art teacher and who wrote the winning essay, received a certificate of recognition. She credited the art teacher with inspiring her find purpose as a creator.

Charter Arts: Reception May 5

There will be an First Friday reception from 7 to 9 p.m. May 5 to open the spring student art exhibit.

The reception and the showing (through May 26) will be held in the Corpora Gallery of the school, 321 E. Third St.

Charter Arts: Dance program May 6, 7

Young Choreographers in Concert dance program will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. May 6 and at 2 p.m. May 7. There will be a senior vocal arts concert from 7 to 9 p.m. on May 9 in the Charter Arts Theatre, 321 E. Third St. The spring choral concert takes place at 7 p.m. May 22 and 23; and the spring instrumental program is at 7 p.m. May 25.

Hanover ES: Student selected ‘Future Chef’

Abby Thompson was selected as one of the 40 regional finalists in Sodexo’s annual Future Chefs Challenge. She will compete in the next round of judging that will determine five semi-finalists.

She is a fifth grader at Hanover ES.

Marvine ES: Carnival set for May 5

Marvine ES will hold an open to the public community carnival from 4:30 to 7 p.m. May 5 at the school, 1425 Livingston St. There will be raffles, music, food, prizes and games. The rain date is May 11.
