WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

The Salisbury Township School District art show will be held 5 to 8 p.m. May 10 at the high school. Art projects from students in kindergarten through 12th grade will be displayed in the gym. You will be amazed at the talented students we have in Salisbury.

The math section of the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment testing will be administered April 25, 26 and 27 to Salisbury students in grades three to eight. The science section will be administered May 2 and 3 to students in fourth grade only.

On May 5, the kindergarten students at Western Salisbury Elementary School are finally getting their time to enjoy lunch with their parents at school. Kindergarten lunch starts promptly 11 a.m.

Field day for students in grades kindergarten, first and second at WSE will be held May 8. Be sure to dress your students properly so they can participate in all of the fun activities.

The month of May also brings spring concerts. Salisbury High School’s spring choral and instrumental concert will be performed 7 p.m. May 9 in the high school auditorium. WSE will host the third grade and chorus concert 2 p.m. May 10 in the school gym.

An operations committee meeting will be held 7 p.m. May 1 in the administration building. The 2017-2018 final budget will be presented and the public is asked to attend.

A school board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. May 10 at the administration building.

PSSA makeups will be given the week of May 8 at Salisbury Middle School.

Mid-marking for SMS students is May 9.

Congratulations to SMS for exceeding their fundraising goal of $1,000 for Pennies for Patients during the month of February. SMS raised $2,800.

Family bingo night will be held 6:30 p.m. April 28 at SMS. It is free to attend. Many prizes will be available including gift cards to stores and restaurants.

A Help Stand Up for Down Syndrome Zumba event will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 8 at SMS. There is an admission charge. All money raised will be donated to the Eastern PA Down Syndrome Center, a local organization to help provide medical care and family support systems for those affected by Down Syndrome.

The SMS spring concert will be held 7 p.m. May 11 at the school.

SMS sixth grade students will take a field trip to the Franklin Institute May 12.

The Devonshire drop-off center is open April 29, May 2 and 6. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of the month.

This is a notice from Salisbury Township. “Due to the closure of Lehigh County’s Recycling Facility in Schnecksville, the township cannot accept grass clippings at either drop-off location until further notice while suitable alternatives are explored.”
