Ronald “Ronnie” James Howanich, 66, of Whitehall and formerly of Atlanta, Ga., died April 18, 2017. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Mike and Stella (Groller) Howanich.
He was a graduate of Parkland High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was an artist and a designer of holiday décor for shopping malls across the U.S., Canada and the Islands. He created pop art prints of American celebrities. His love of art led him to befriend Sally Starr, whose friendship he cherished.
He is survived by a sister, Linda and her husband Thomas Galio; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Michael J. Howanich.
Contributions may be made to an animal rescue of one’s choice; or to the American Cancer Society, 3893 Adler Place-170, Bethlehem, 18017.
