Ronald “Ronnie” James Howanich, 66, of Whitehall, formerly of Atlanta, Ga., died April 18, 2017.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Mike and Stella (Groller) Howanich.

A Parkland High School graduate, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial design from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y.

While at Pratt, he was a member of Tau Delta Phi fraternity.

An artist, he spent his life designing holiday décor for shopping malls across the U.S., Canada and the Islands, and he enjoyed creating pop art prints of American celebrities.

His love of art led him to befriend the late entertainer Sally Starr, whose friendship he cherished.

His survivors include his sister Linda Galio (Thomas); nieces, nephews and many cousins; and his canine love Sheba.

He was predeceased by a brother Michael J.
