Elmer F. (Buddy) Hensinger

Elmer F. “Buddy” Hensinger, 88, of Macungie, formerly of Kutztown, died April 15, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. (DeLong) Hensinger, who died Dec. 27, 2012. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Elmer B. and Isabelle A. (Gehringer) Hensinger.

He was a graduate of William Allen High School, Allentown, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny.

He worked in the maintenance department of Kutztown University for 17 years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that he was a carpenter for Milt Arndt Construction and was the owner/operator of Hensinger’s Restaurant from 1953 to 1967.

He was a former member of the Kutztown Lions Club, where he served as president in 1970.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah L. Berger, of Kutztown; son, Randy E. and his wife Donna B. (Bauman), of Kempton; sister, Nancy Marsh, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and a brother, Richard, of Allentown; grandchildren, Kerry A., husband of Trisha L. (Weigle) Berger, of Kutztown; Kelly M. (Berger) and her husband Andrew C. Weisner, of Lenhartsville; Magenta J. and Jade A., of Kempton; great-grandchildren, Marisa L. and Sadie S. Berger, and Konnor B. and Alex W. Weisner. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty D’Argenio, Jean Parton and Joyce Smartschen.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. April 28 in the Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich St., Kutztown. A Celebration of Life will be held 6 to 8 p.m. April 27 and 9:30 to 11 a.m. April 28 in the funeral home.
