Edwin F. Hunsberger

Edwin Franklin Hunsberger, 90, of Macungie, died April 19, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Violet Iobst (Fisher) Hunsberger who died Oct. 19, 2011. Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Franklin and Pearl (Diehl) Hunsberger.

He served in the U.S. Marines in World War II and was a part of Anti-Tank Company 414 during his service in Iwo Jima. His service in Iwo Jima included being present for the raising of the flag.

He was the owner of Edwin F. Hunsberger Septic & Excavating, Macungie.

He was active in the Macungie VFW where he was a past Post Commander, District Commander and All State Commander. In the past he was active with the American Small Business Association.

He is survived by a son, James E. and his fiancee Sally Geist, of Mertztown; sisters, Lorraine Arndt, Thelma Hatch, Goldie Reese, Loretta; brother, Clair; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Bernard A. and sister, Doris.

A viewing will be held 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 26 at the Boyko Funeral Home, 855 Lehigh St., Allentown, with calling hours 10 to 11 a.m. April 27, followed by the funeral service 11 a.m.
