Joseph John Kuzma, 78, of Allentown, died April 14, 2017, in his home.
He and his wife Miriam (Maran) Kuzma were married 58 years Feb. 7.
Born Nov. 14, 1938, in Emmaus, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Teman) Kuzma.
He was an independent truck driver for 22 years before retiring in 2002.
Faithfully and honorably serving his country in the U.S. Navy during a peacetime era, he was the current commander of the Honorary First Defenders, Allentown.
He was a member of the Topton American Legion Post 217 where he served with the honor guard detail.
He was a volunteer for the Macungie VFW Honor Guard, a member of the Egypt Veterans Home Association, the Mercantile of Emmaus, Colombia Home of Allentown 924, and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was a recipient of The Legion of Honor Award by The Chapel of Four Chaplains.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children LeAnn P. Silberman and her husband, Gerald, of Kutztown, Joseph D. Kuzma of Toronto, Canada, Ellen M. Stenger and her husband, John, of Walnutport; daughter-in-law, Renee J. Kuzma of Slatington; sisters Sarah Rutkowski of Boyertown, Rose Marie Yerk of Barto; and eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth J.
