John “Uncle John” J. Miksits

John “Uncle John” J. Miksits, 78, of North- ampton, died suddenly March 25, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg campus, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Nancy E. (Koehler) Miksits for 54 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Edward and Rose (Szoke) Miksits.

He was a 1956 graduate of Northampton High School and was a graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College.

He was a lance corporal in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.

He was a high school English teacher for the Parkland Area School District for 35 years. He coached both junior varsity and varsity football for several years.

He was a life member of the Lappawinzo Fish and Game Protective Association, Allen Township.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Agnes Panny, of Northampton; two brothers, Louis and his wife Carol and Frank and his wife Pat, all of Northampton; a sister-in-law, Barbara and her husband Allen McIntyre of Harleysville; a nephew, Timothy and his wife Carla McIntyre of Slatington; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Steffie; and two brothers, Edward and Joseph.
