The Northampton track and field teams thought they suffered two very close losses to Pleasant Valley this week. The boys lost 78-72 while the girls fell 76-74.

Or so they thought.

However, after correcting a scoring error, it eventually gave the Kids a first place in the girls triple jump which tied the score at 75-75. However, the girls won on the first tiebreaker which is first place finishes, 10-8, according to an email correction the Press received about the meet on Tuesday.

So the girls picked up two wins, including a victory over Whitehall 79-71. The boys beat Whitehall, too, their score was 91-59.

The Kids had three winners in the boys meet. Jared Jackson won the 400 in 52.20 while Nick Bodnar won the 300 hurdles in 16.0, just ahead of teammate Jovani Datis-Cordero. Zach Liggitt won the shot put with a throw of 142-6. He beat out teammates Jared Sebesta and Jeremy Sell as the Kids took the top three spots.

Other second place finishers for the boys were: Jared Stauffer (100), Morgan Heffelfinger (200), Vince Gallagher (3200), Datis-Cordero (110 hurdles), Colin Schucker (javelin), Jahmari Austin (triple and high jumps).

The Kids 400 relay team, made up of R. Ellersick, Liggitt, J. Stauffer, and Heffelfinger had a winning time of 44.40.

For the girls, five girls took a total of six firsts, including a double-win by Lyndsey Gallagher in the 1600 and 3200. Gallagher won the 1600 in 5:20.10 and the 3200 in 12:01.5.

Hannah Flaven took first in the 400 with a time of 1:10.90, just ahead of teammate Olivia Daniels, and Tatiana Lopez won the 100 hurdles in 17.30.

In the field events, Aja Blount took the shot put with a throw of 31-0.5 and it was Elizabeth Fehnel in the triple jump with a 33-1.

Second places finishes for the girls included: Beth Albright (800), Fehnel (300 hurdles), Madison Nika (discus), and Alexis Barrall (pole vault).
