Edward T. Saba

Edward T. Saba, 92, of Allentown, died April 1, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Tanas and Sophia (Plikiades) Saba.

He was the husband of Rosalyn M. (Sadd) Saba for 65 years.

He graduated from Shaw High School, Cleveland, and Purdue University, with a degree in electrical engineering.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Third Infantry in the European Theater under Gen. George Patton. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his role in the Battle of Metz, France.

He worked in the engineering department of Euclid Crane Company, Madison, Ohio, and was its regional sales manager in Allentown. He founded E.T. Saba Associates Inc., with offices in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Allentown, until retiring in 2012.

He was a member of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers, the IEEE and the ISRI trade organizations.

He was a baseball coach for West End Youth Center, H.L. Peter Post and Downtown Youth Center American Legion teams.

He was the oldest active member of Brookside Country Club. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of Jordan-Martin Masonic Lodge 673 F&AM and the Valley of Allentown Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory.

A member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Allentown, he was a principal benefactor in the construction of the church and a contributor to the welfare of the church for many years. He served a term on its board as a financial adviser and analyst.

Surviving with his wife are sons, Gary T. and his wife Nadia P. of Allentown and Gregory D. and his wife Maria of Allentown; a daughter, Lynn and her husband Jeffrey Dean of West Chester; a brother, Robert of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; and grandchildren, David, Meredith, Paul, Brent, Andrew, Allison and Michael; and one great-grandchild, Anya.
