Austen events begin April 18

BETHLEHEM

There will be free public talks on Jane Austen novels by Lehigh University faculty and students from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on various Tuesdays at the Bethlehem Area Public Library, 11 W. Church St.

The schedule includes Northanger Abbey, April 18; Sense and Sensibility, May 16; Pride and Prejudice, June 20; Mansfield Park, July 18; Emma, Aug. 15; and Persuasion, Sept. 19. The sessions are funded in part by Lawrence Henry Gipson Institute for 18th-Century Studies.

Lehigh University events, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, include an exhibit of 19th century first editions and a film series.

There will be an Austen symposium on Sept. 22 at Lehigh.
