Neubauer seeks seat on N. Whitehall Twp board

Eric Neubauer, a Republican, has announced he is running in the May 16 Municipal Primary for a 6-year term as North Whitehall Township supervisor.

The seat is now occupied by Steve Pany, also a Republican, who is seeking re-election.

Neubauer has been a resident of the township since 1991.

“North Whitehall Township weathered the recession well and continues to provide good basic services,” Neubauer said in his announcement. “So, why should I run for office?

“Some residents believe we can improve the efficiency of the township. I agree with them and believe I can do a good job.”

Neubauer, who is retired, says he has no business interests within the township to influence his decisions.

“A degree in biology [from Lehigh] gives me insight into environmental issues,” Neubauer said. “A degree in chemical engineering, also from Lehigh, and work experience as a manager of engineering and quality control makes me familiar with record keeping processes similar to the land development process.”

Neubauer has served on the township zoning hearing board for the last three years and have attended most public meetings and hearings for the last five years.

“I support acting promptly on issues before the board; clarifying vagueness in our ordinances that causes unnecessary hearings; taking the long-term view without being blinded by short-term benefits; continuing the transition to nonemployee supervisors with a professional township manager,” Neubauer said.
